Southern's Black History Speaking Engagement

  • Southern University Cotillion Ballroom Baton Rouge, LA (map)

As a former Student Government Association President of Southern University, this event becomes an unprecedented speaking engagement for Wilson to return to his Alma Mater. As an actively supporting alumnus, Wilson was thrilled to accept the invitation to revisit his stumping grounds that ultimately led to his impassioned career in public policy and the arts. Not only will he attempt to inspire the student body and student leaders to understand their role in community advancement, social engagement, and career planning, he’s set to present the first Avery D. Wilson Student Leadership Scholarship to one of the university’s deserving students. Wilson truly believes in his responsibility to be a good steward and advocate for all Historically Black Colleges and Universities in America.
