ABOUT
Avery D. Wilson is a Southern-born creative whose life and work have been shaped across many stages, cities, and seasons. With more than two decades of experience in performance, dance, theatre, education, and creative development, his journey has always been rooted in curiosity, expression, and the development of others.
Those experiences remain an important part of his story, but Avery is no longer interested in simply repeating who he has already been. He is in a second-mountain season of becoming.
Drawn to soulful expression and the possibilities that emerge when one chapter gives way to another, Avery continues to explore what it means to build a life and body of work with intention. His past informs the foundation, but it does not determine the design.
As he navigates the intersection of artistry, storytelling, education, advocacy, and faith, Avery is excited to share what he is learning and the work that emerges along the way.
Artist Statement
I make work from the space between what has been and what is forming, listening closely to the times, the stories, and the truths beneath them. The work reflects what I see while reaching for what I cannot yet name, making room first for my own healing, and then, perhaps, for someone else’s.
